What Does a Youth Commitment Signatory Do?
The process of meeting your Youth Commitment is simple. If you have identified a young person who is “at risk” of not continuing in education, training or employment, or who has already disengaged, the following actions should be undertaken:
1. Find a service or organisation that can assist the young person to re-engage or remain engaged.
2. Refer the young person to the appropriate service by:
- Asking the young person’s permission to contact the service on their behalf.
- Giving the young person the contact details of the service.
- Checking with the service that contact has been made and that the young person will be supported appropriately.
3. Celebrate that you have supported a young person through their transition from school to full-time employment.
To assist you in meeting your Youth Commitment, please access the Find a Service function on this website or download a copy of the Out There resource booklet. Both resources will assist you in finding information and services available to young people in the region.
